Methodological context
The top 15 countries with most naturalizations are Ibero-American, with the only exceptions being Morocco (2nd) and Romania (12th). This is due to reduced requirements for Ibero-Americans (2 years vs 10 years for the general pathway). 15% of grants correspond to people born in Spain, half of whom had Moroccan nationality. Historical data from the Ministry of Justice shows an increasing trend since 2002, with peaks in 2014 and 2023.
